Domain Name Renewal

A .IO domain name can be Renewed for 1 to 10 years.

You may Renew your .IO domain name anytime up to its Expiry date.

Upon Expiry of a .IO domain name:

  • Any service such as email, website, etc., configured for this domain name would stop functioning, until the domain name is Renewed.
  • A 44-day Auto-Renew Grace Period applies after the Expiry date, during which you may still Renew the domain name at the standard Renewal price.
  • If the domain name is not Renewed within 44 days after Expiry, the domain name enters the Redemption Grace Period. Refer to the Restore section below.

Domain Name Transfer

Transferring a .IO domain name to ResellerClub includes a 1-year Renewal of the domain name.

.IO domain names have a 60-Day Transfer Lock placed on them after they are Registered or Transferred. Transfers will be rejected within this lock period.

All .IO domain names require a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key / Authorization Code for Transfer. This code must be obtained from the current Registrar through the Registrant or Administrative Contact of the domain name.

Before initiating a Transfer, please ensure the following:

  • The domain name does not have a REGISTRAR-LOCK or HOLD status. This can be verified via a WHOIS lookup. If the domain is locked, the Registrant must request the current Registrar to remove the lock before proceeding.
  • The domain name is older than 60 days from its date of Registration.
  • Do not initiate a Transfer shortly before the domain name Expires. Allow sufficient time for the Transfer to complete.
  • There is a 5-day Transfer Grace Period following the completion of a Transfer, during which the domain name cannot be Transferred again.

The Bulk Transfer feature is available for .IO domain names.

Domain Name Restore

If a .IO domain name is not Renewed during the Auto-Renew Grace Period (within 44 days of Expiry), it enters the Redemption Grace Period.

The Redemption Grace Period for .IO domain names is from Day 45 to Day 75 after Expiry.

During the Redemption Grace Period, the domain name may be Restored by the Registrant at an additional Restore / Redemption Fee charged by the Registry, in addition to the standard Renewal fee.

After Day 75, the domain name enters Pending Delete status and cannot be Restored.

After Day 90 post-Expiry, the domain name is permanently Deleted from the Registry and returns to the pool, where it becomes available for fresh Registration.

Note Restore requests during the Redemption Grace Period must be submitted promptly. Once the domain name enters Pending Delete status, recovery is not possible.

Domain Name Delete

A .IO domain name has a Money Back Grace Period of 5 days from the date of Registration.

If you wish to have your domain name Deleted after the Money Back Grace Period, you need to contact our Support Team and request the same. Such a request must come from the Registrant of the domain name.

Upon Deletion, a .IO domain name enters the Redemption Grace Period before being permanently removed from the Registry. Refer to the Restore section above for lifecycle details.
